Boston Dining: Cafe Adam in Great Barrington
Cafe Adam has a sweet, low-key exterior that belies its classy interior and menu.
It is highly regarded by locals. Reservations are recommended, even for lunch, and especially on summer weekends.
The restaurant serves local organic produce and makes its own smoked salmon. Lunch menu prices range from moderate to somewhat pricey.
What you get for your money, however, is delicious food prepared and presented to perfection.
The “locally famous avocado toast,” thinly-sliced
smoked salmon and abundant avocado slices on organic ciabatta bread with dill sauce, my friend’s favorite dish, was fresh and light. What looked like a lot of food went down very easily.
My husband said that the tuna in his grilled tuna nicoise was the best he could remember having. Another in our party had his usual dish of Prince Edward Island mussels, to his usual satisfaction.
All the desserts looked irresistible but, having to settle for two, we split a Pavlova which any Aussie restaurant would be proud to serve, and what could ever be wrong with ice-cream filled profiterole?
Cafe Adam has received commendations for its wine, but organic dark beer from Maine is all that was sampled in our party. It was pronounced delicious.
This is definitely a restaurant to remember and return to repeatedly.
